Peter C. Van Nice Family

From Van Nuys Genealogy by Carrie E. Allen: "Aucke Janse Van Nuys was the common ancestor of the Van Nuys family in America. In 1651 he with his wife, Magdalena Pieterse, and some of his children emigrated from Holland to New Amsterdam (now New York.) He was a carpenter, and his name appears in numerous early records in New Amsterdam, Brooklyn, and Flatbush... "

His great, great, great grandson Peter C. Van Nice (1801-1888) was born in Mercer County, Kentucky and married Sarah Ann Watts Smith (1809-1888) in 1828. They moved to Hendricks County, Indiana in 1831 where they lived out their lives, dying within three days of each other.
